Happy March! I really hope this is the month that baby boy arrives. I also hope that we decide on a name, heheheheh.
This will be a fast post, Jaylene’s begging me to join her in the art room. Yesterday’s picture irked me a bit, so I asked my friends for some suggestions. Based on their advice, this is what I ended up with:
I think it’s much better, what about you?
So, for the giveaway, in my comments post a photo tip or a link to a good tutorial for photo processing (I have photoshop). There will be several prizes of collage goodies this time around, and I hope many of you will play. I’ll leave it open for a while, but not too long!
Also, if someone is able to provide me with the link to the blog I read a year or so ago that had tips on taking great pictures of still objects I’ll find something super special to send. Good luck with that vague description π
I haven’t heard if the Feb. giveaways have arrived yet…. I hope so!

Happy March to you Julie!!
I think I found some useful tips for you π I’m not a great picture taker or anything but I like the first picture more than the 2nd one. I think it had to do with the fringe at the bottom of the poncho with the white that caught my eye and made it look brighter and more eye catching. That’s my opinion! Jaylene is so photogenic!! I would be taking tons of pics of her all the time hehe.
This first site is for the photoshop tutorial…and it looks like a really neat effect that makes the photo pop out at you more that a normal photo.

This second link is for the photo tips…I don’t know about you but I like to see samples of what they are talking about when they give you tips not just a bunch of writing. So I found this site which has a few really good tips that I think I will check out and use myself π

Enjoy!

I do like that better, Julie, just because it accentuates her sweet face and the puppy dog. Really no tips. I don’t have a photoediting program just now, and it drives me crazy. Picnik is pretty cool, though. You should give it a try. I think our little Canadian buddy has Mom’s phototips in a document. Those were great. I think that’s where I learned everything. You are lucky to have such a gorgeous model. And another one on the way! Although I never got good photos of my babies. Always too sleep deprived to think straight. ;p

Hello,
Sorry I don’t have any photo tips for you… I just point and click basically. I should probably learn some more photography techniques, but I am too busy stamping & quilting to do that.
I’d love to be entered in your March draw!
Thanks for offering your freebies – they are great!

Hi Julie! Just found this link to your blog from Cindy Kerry’s blog… how fun! So you send blog candy all the way from Taiwan?! Wow. Just a side note, I have 2 girls that are from Taiwan living with me right now, age 10. See my blog.
Photo tips: I don’t know what to suggest! I just tried for the first time, http://www.slide.com and that is a very fun and very easy way to upload a few pictures for a blog post.
Thanks for this opportunity!
Have a lovely March!

I found your blog from Cindy Keery’s.
I found the following tutorial helpful for putting watermarks on my pictures.

I do not “do” digital photography…I am like Cindy Keery…I just point and click! Yahoo!! BUT…I do enjoy photographing food and backgrounds as much as people and pets…it makes for interesting photos on layouts!
Enjoy!

I am quite the amateur when it comes to photography… We just got our first camera for Christmas (before then I was just using disposables – gasp!) What I have liked however, is making color photos into black & whites… they seem to have more variation & depth when they are first in color then developed into black & white π

I have to say photography is not my strong suit. No matter how hard I try , so I have no pointers. Point and click is my experience.

I found this site to be helpful for taking photos of cards. I suppose it would work just as well for other still items!

Hi Julie,
A friend of mine who is a photographer offers this advise when it comes to taking pictures of kids. Get up close, and don’t be afraid to get on their level, ie get on the floor if that’s where they are, climb to the top of the slide with them at the park, etc. He says that kids, in particular, all take great photos, but you have to come to them for those great shots.
Have a wonderful day,
Melissa

Hi Julie,
Nice to meet you on your blog, I was referred to your giveaway by Cindy, your winner from February.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any photography tips to pass along except always take extra pictures just in case.

I really like this site for tutorials…

It is a great place..Sorry you will have to copy and paste the url. I love to pick up free photo plugins to change the pics. It creates effects that would take me alot of time to do. Although I use PSP the most..I add photoshop plugins. They are wonderful.

Hi Julie,
I’ve just started to play around with Photoshop, my hubby is really good with it, but I think I need to take some tutorials myself. There’s so much that you’re able to do with the program…so much to learn…so little time. I have two little girls (3 and 5) that keep me running and with my passion for cardmaking, it doesn’t leave me a whole lot of time for the tutorials, but I should make the time!
I’ve also checked out StampinMerr’s photography tips in the past, (Toni W posted, as well) she has some great ideas. Looks like you have lots of sites to keep you busy for a bit!
Congrats on the new little one to arrive soon! All the best!

Hi Julie,
I was sent over here by Cindy K. I was also going to suggest Picasa (google) for photo editing. It works great for the awful pictures my digital camera takes. What I really enjoy is using my SLR and making my subject in focus and background blurry. I would rather experiment with the manual settings on film… they seem to turn out better.
