My sweet, adorable, finally learning to speak toddler was roaming around the house tonight, repeating a Chinese phrase over and over at the top of his lungs. He didn’t seem upset or like he was wanting attention, but finally I asked, “What *is* he saying?” Ahji was engrossed in a book and didn’t reply but Jaylene piped up with, “A bad word. Howard said it at school today and now Jayden’s saying it.” Apparently “Dead dog” in Chinese is not an appropriate phrase for children. We will be chatting with the teachers!

FYI it’s not polite to call anyone a son of a turtle or a pig’s head either. Thankfully Jayden hasn’t picked up those terms yet. Have you been shocked by anything your child said?
