The latest Kid’s craft newsletter was all about Printing. In one of the activities, she suggested using various shaped boxes to stamp with. We didn’t have a collection of fun shapes so we made our own by cutting a cereal box into strips and then forming them into different shapes.
Then you dip them in paint and stamp away.
Of course, Jaylene made a robot themed painting. We re-used one of her daycare paintings. It justifies that I never threw them away, and she thinks the background looks cool.
And if you were wondering how to say “robot” in Chinese, it’s “Ji Chi Ren” written as follows:

Do you know offhand how to say “robot” in any other languages?

In Korean it’s 로보트, which is pronounced “ro bo tu.”
I like the painted background! That’s a cool way to use it.

Yes, great background! “Robot” is from the Czech word for “to work” (closely related to the same in Russian). In French it’s “robot”, too, but you don’t pronounce the final “t”.

There are so many great parts to your interpretation of this weeks printing activities. I love that you printed onto old art, but mostly I was impressed the how you created cookie cutters! Wow!

Your blog is amazing!!!
I stumbled upon it from a link on crafty cow. I’ve been scrolling through all the wonderful ideas and pictures.
My boys LOVE robots, these projects will be so fun for them.
With four kids we have so many bottles and baby food jars I’ve been saving for the right craft, now I have it.
I will also teach the older boys how to say robot in Chinese and Korean. My grandmother is Japanese so, I will find out how to say it in Japanese as well. I’m not completely sure what an unplugged project is yet, but it sounds like just what we need, in our over stimulating world. Thanks for the inspirations!
Blessings!!

This is great. I teach art at a local school and I can see many adaptations for this. Recycling as well!
Wonderful technique, thanks for posting it.

Just came here form The Crafty Crow. My five-year-old son will surely LOVE making a robot of his own! How creative to have the cereal boxes to get different shapes. I’m Brazilian, and in Portuguese we say “robô”!
